The dimensions of all PX200 crankshafts are the same as those of the 125cc models. From a technical point of view, this means that the crankshaft drive is already fully utilised with the original 12 hp cylinder.
The narrow crankcase of the PX models does not allow the use of wide crank webs (urgently required for high performance). To develop a crankshaft that can withstand over three times the power (Malossi MHR cylinder) is therefore a more than technical challenge.
For a crankshaft that is as stable as possible, the crankpin and its material coverage should always be as large as possible. For this reason it is noticeable that Malossi has reduced the pin diameter from Ø22mm to Ø20mm and the crankshaft diameter from the original 97,8mm to 95mm.
